Perks printing
I didn't know until recently (2014) that this printing existed. On the page of Original Artwork, there is a picture of a mock-up for the original front cover painting that was for this "breeder set" of the first three volumes. On this painting it acknowledges Perks as the publisher on the bottom of the spine. I'm now assuming that Perks sold the artwork to Goldsmith and transferred rights of reproduction very soon after they started printing. This past year I started seeing a few copies on eBay that were credited to Perks; and thankfully one of them has an inscription in it of 1938. Inscriptions can be very valuable in dating short-lived formats and printings!
Goldsmith kept nearly everything from the Perks printings--same DJ artwork and format, as well as the same format of the cover/spine of the book itself. Will be interesting to someday see the back dust jacket from a Perks printing.
These pictures are not mine--they are from two separate eBay auctions. Unfortunately I have no better pictures than these, and none with the DJ (although it should be the same as the Goldsmith one, except with Perks markings instead of Goldsmith.
