The "book-of-the-Month" reprints from 2004
These are an interesting set of reprints, in that different artwork was used for the covers of most of them. The exception (oddly enough) is for At The Seashore, which retains the Thelma Gooch artwork which debuted in the late 1920s (although it seems as if it would have been more appropriate for In The Country).
Volumes 1-6 were reprinted in this format--also interesting that they didn't stop with just the first three. Also, check out the frontis pictures used, below the cover photos. Most were from the original printings (Nuttal and Walter S. Rogers), except for the first book, which used later artwork signed by Martha E. Miller. These are nicely printed hardcovers, with dust jackets, and the artwork is sympathetic to the times of the original text. |
